Applicants to Urban Teachers are able to indicate their preferences for city placement & program of study placement during the application process. Ultimately, while we make every effort to honor your preferences, placements are based on our students' and school partners' needs.
To increase the likelihood of receiving the placements you prefer, it is best to apply early. Spots fill up quickly!
Urban Teachers was founded in 2009 in Baltimore MD to improve new teacher quality. We began in two of the highest-need districts in the nation, Baltimore MD & Washington DC, and the Dallas/Fort Worth TX site opened with its first cohort in 2016. Philadelphia PA will open with its first cohort in 2022!
Participants commit to teaching and serving in their city for all 4 years of the program (and are therefore unable to switch city placements after beginning the program).
