WELCOME! I am thrilled that you have decided to join Urban Teachers and commit to our mission of improving the education and life outcomes of children in urban schools. 

We accomplish this by recruiting outstanding candidates like you, equipping you with state-of-the-art preparation in a clinical setting, and supporting you as you continue to meet high performance standards in your new career. As a member of the Urban Teachers community, we expect that you will keep our mission front of mind throughout your four years with us. In turn, we will live it alongside you every step of the way — in and out of the classroom.

Your commitment to our mission also means you are now on the front line of a revolution in education and teacher preparation. We expect Urban Teachers educators will become among the most effective and results-oriented in the nation, making the public case for more intensive teacher preparation and development in all school districts. We believe this because hundreds of our alumni have already entered the profession equipped to make change. They have become revered veteran teachers, teachers of the year, teacher-leaders, grade-level chairs, community leaders, and instructional coaches. 

Your decision to join Urban Teachers comes at a critical time in American history. The Covid-19 pandemic disproportionately impacted our most underserved urban communities, and therefore the need for great teachers in these communities is now amplified. Our staff, faculty, and coaches are committed to being both agile and supportive as the needs of our students shift and, therefore, dictate commensurate modifications to our program. Working together with each of you, I am confident that we will collectively rise to the challenge – it’s what our students deserve.
