TEA requires that participants have a minimum of thirty (30) documented clock hours of field-based experiences in a public school setting, including a reflection of those observations. The field-based experiences must be completed prior to the internship (Program Years 2 & 3).
The TEA required window for field-based experiences is the first fifteen (15) days of the academic school year. Candidates’ attendance at their school placement during the first fifteen (15) days of school is mandatory in order to meet the field-based experience qualification for certification.
While Urban Teachers participants' field-based experiences will be well beyond this minimum requirement, candidates will be asked to record thirty (30) hours of experiences in a provided log format. The Dallas/Fort Worth Site Team will distribute the Log format during Summer Institute. The completed log should be submitted to the Urban Teachers Dallas/Fort Worth Certification Officer for inclusion in candidates’ permanent records.
